It is etiquette in Japanese culture to arrive to a meeting 5-10 minutes early.

If a person should arrive just in time it is deemed late and inconsiderate to the person or parties waiting. In other words, being early is polite and creates a good impression to Japanese people. It would be prudent to remember this important Japanese value when doing business.

If a person speaks in an honest and direct manner the Japanese become very weary. It is not customary to demonstrate one's true feelings as it may risk offending someone. The Japanese are more concerned in protecting each others feelings than expressing one's own feelings or attitudes. As a consequence, we resort to using simple responses such as "Yes or No" which can sometimes be a problem.

Don't always believe Japanease smiles.

Even if the Japanese smile, it does not mean "Ok!", "Very good!" or "I'm satisfied". The Japanese prefer to mask their true emotions with a superficial smile to maintain a friendly atmosphere. If you really want to understand the Japanese psyche you have to observe closely.
Never touch!

Asian people don't have custom to touch each other.

Shaking hands is ok, however, Japanese law does not consent to the touching or hugging of each other in public. Even if it is acceptable in your country, it is not recommended in Japan.

Practise respect in your interactions with the Japanese people and you will gain a valuable insight to the Japanese mentality and culture.
